Jewish sacred texts declare that destroying even one life is akin to destroying a whole world. But here in Montgomery County, lives are destroyed every day, especially Black and brown lives, by our systems of policing and school discipline. Join us for our next team meeting to discuss ongoing campaigns to transform public safety in our County.
Join us for our Maryland Community Meeting where we'll discuss campaign updates and how we can best move our work forward! Join at 7:30 PM for JUFJ 101 if you're newer to JUFJ, or for a schmooze session if you're a returning JUFJer. The full meeting will begin at 8:00 PM. All are welcome!
Join other District 17 JUFJers in a Zoom meeting with Delegates Ryan Spiegel and Joe Vogel to discuss our agenda for the 2024 Maryland General Assembly Session.
Jewish tradition teaches that in a just world, all people — regardless of race, income, or zip code — would have what the Torah calls dei machsoro, resources sufficient for their needs. Join JUFJ's Fair Share for Maryland Working Group as we work to pass the Fair Share for Maryland Plan so corporations and the wealthiest pay their fair share.
JUFJ was proud to endorse Initiative 82, which eliminated the subminimum wage for waiters, bartenders, parking lot attendants, nail salon technicians, and others who rely on tips. But now, restaurant owners are trying to undermine the initiative with confusing junk fees to increase their own profits at the expense of workers’ tips. Consumers bear the brunt of the cost, and workers’ earnings are suffering. Join the Fair Price Fair Wage coalition on Zoom to learn more and take action.
Join us to text JUFJers to contact their legislators about our key priorities before crossover day. No prior experience necessary!
Purim is a joyful Jewish holiday that commemorates the story of Queen Esther, who used her power to help her community during challenging times. We are packing 250 gift bags (half in Baltimore, half in Rockville) to deliver to statewide and Montgomery County elected officials. Join us in packing bags, delivering bags to legislators, donating supplies, or donating money to offset the cost of making all of this happen.
Join the Edlavitch DCJCC and JUFJ for an evening of Purim fun and festivities – featuring Purim carnival games (budget ring toss, anyone?), a hilarious Purim spiel, and a special drag performance by Manny Nuff! So come nosh some hamantaschen and shake your gragger while learning how we can push councilmembers to prioritize housing and put people over profit.
Everyone in DC should have what the Torah calls dei machsoro, resources sufficient to meet their needs. Join our Economic Justice Working Group meeting on Zoom or in person to discuss our current campaigns, and how we are working with our partners to build a DC where everyone can live and thrive.
Jewish sacred texts teach us that the world was created with both justice and mercy. Here in Maryland, children who are charged with certain crimes are sentenced as if they were adults. That is neither just nor merciful. Join JUFJ's youth justice working group as we discuss the campaign to pass youth justice legislation in Maryland.
Jewish sacred texts recognize that having safe, stable housing is key to a healthy society. Join us for our next Montgomery County Housing Team meeting to get updates about our ongoing campaigns, learn organizing skills, and take action together.
Calling all Maryland JUFJers: JUFJ staff need your help to make sure everyone hears about our first seder in Baltimore since 2019! Join us to call other JUFJers who haven't RSVPed yet and make sure that they have a chance to join the fun and the action for youth justice.

Sine Die is Latin for “adjourning without a future day,” and Dayenu, the title of an important Passover song, means “it would have been enough” — at JUFJ, we combine the two! As we prepare to celebrate at “Sine Dayenu,” we remind ourselves that each victory that we and our partners achieve in Annapolis is a necessary but not sufficient step toward collective liberation. Our work must continue until all of us are free.
