Equal Justice Under the Law Platform Team Meeting

JUFJ's Equal Justice Under the Law Platform Team is committed to dismantling systems that reinforce discrimination by demanding equitable treatment for marginalized and working-class communities. This state session we are advocating for legislation increasing trust and safety for our immigrant neighbors, limiting the use of solitary confinement, and defending and expanding bail reform. Join us at the Maryland Statehouse to celebrate Sine Die: the last day of the 2018 Maryland General Assembly session! We'll have a first shift watching proceedings from the gallery at 5pm, dinner at a nearby restaurant at 7 pm, then a second shift watching from the gallery after dinner. Stay as long as you want! When everything wraps up at midnight, we'll grab a drink with the hardy few who are still awake, and then head home.

Come to testify or to fill the chambers for a Montgomery County Council 2020 Budget Hearing! There will be 2 hearings on 2 different days. On April 9 at 7pm, and April 10 at 1:30pm. You can sign up for one or more of the hearings! The hearings will be held in the Third Floor Hearing Room. There will be a dinner before the hearing on the 9th at 5:30pm, and lunch before the hearing on the 10th at 12pm.

CHARM CITY delivers a candid portrait of citizens, police, community advocates, and government officials on the frontlines during three years of unparalleled, escalating violence in Baltimore. The film highlights the work of JUFJ partner Safe Streets, a community-based approach to ending street violence.

After the documentary there will be a panel discussion featuring Alex Long, a violence interrupter featured in the film, along with Montgomery County community advocates Brandy H. M. Brooks and Candace Kattar. Together they will reflect on the film and highlight actions we can take locally.

Environmental Gentrification: the Case of Anacostia Part 2
