People in Montgomery County believe that all students should be safe in schools, regardless of their race, which school they attend, or their academic performance. But after a tragic shooting at Magruder High School, some people are pushing for a “solution” that will harm Black and brown students especially, without making any students safer: expanding police presence in Montgomery County Public Schools. Let’s invest in our students, not arrest them. Join JUFJ and coalition partners for a virtual Police Free Schools Week of Action.
JUFJers keep pursuing justice even when it's not safe to pursue it indoors. Join us in Annapolis every Tuesday morning during the 2022 Maryland General Assembly legislative session as we stand outside the state house to remind our Senators and Delegates how much we care about paid family and medical leave, transforming public safety, renters' rights, court and prison reform, and immigrant rights.
Montgomery County needs real police accountability, but Bill 49-21 waters down community oversight of police. Join the Silver Spring Justice Coalition for a virtual watch party of the bill's full council worksession to follow along with this important legislation.

Purim is a joyful Jewish holiday that commemorates the story of Queen Esther, who used her power to help her community during challenging times. Every year on (or near) Purim, JUFJ activists deliver mishloach manot, sweet gifts to our Maryland state legislators, along with a reminder of what our legislative priorities are for this year's General Assembly session. But we can't make this sweet delivery without your help.
