Baltimore Board of Estimates “Taxpayers’ Night”

Baltimore
Baltimore City Hall
100 Holliday Street, Baltimore, MD

Jewish tradition teaches that in a just world, all people would have resources sufficient for their needs. That's why JUFJ and many community organizations every year advocate for a moral Baltimore city budget. Join us as we and our partners testify to the Board of Estimates at their annual Taxpayer Night and remind them that our city budget should meet all residents' needs all year round.

Baltimore Shavuot and City Council “Taxpayers’ Night”

Baltimore
Baltimore City Hall
100 Holliday Street, Baltimore, MD

Shavuot is a Jewish holiday celebrating the Torah and the beginning of the harvest, and it reminds us to reaffirm our communal values. It is often observed by eating dairy foods, studying all night, and reading the Book of Ruth. This year, Baltimore City Council's Taxpayer Night begins just before Shavuot. Join us as we and our partners celebrate Shavuot and testify to the City Council to remind them that, as the Book of Ruth points out, the bounty of the harvest should be used to meet everyone’s basic needs.

We Pay Taxes – Why Don’t They? With Us, For Us Campaign Happy Hour (Baltimore)

Baltimore
Peabody Heights Brewery
401 E 30th Street, Baltimore, MD

As the federal administration creates a system where the wealthiest institutions and individuals are able to hoard wealth, we are working on a local level to ensure our wealthiest institutions contribute towards the cost of city services they utilize. Join Jews United for Justice and the With Us, For Us Coalition to learn about the campaign to hold Baltimore City's largest universities and hospitals accountable to paying their fair share. We pay taxes, why don't they? There will be light snacks provided and a short presentation at 6pm.
