JUFJ in Montgomery County

Baltimore
Maryland State
Montgomery County

JUFJ was a leader in the Fight for $15 coalition’s successful campaign to pass a $15 minimum wage in Montgomery County, which was then vetoed by the County Executive. The new bill was voted on in November, and thanks to the efforts of our organizers, leaders, and coalition partners, the County Council unanimously passed a strong minimum wage bill that will help over 100,000 MoCo residents.

In the next year, our MoCo team is looking forward to working on statewide issues with the Baltimore team and pushing for more funding for early childhood education. We are holding a series of discussions on implicit bias and white privilege with Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation, and will continue our work to tie Jewish values to legislative and policy priorities.
