BALTIMORE CITY BELONGS TO ITS RESIDENTS, NOT SPECIAL INTERESTS. Baltimore City voters must oppose a charter amendment that will harm our city.

A just and equitable Baltimore is one in which everyone has a voice. City residents deserve responsible elected officials, strong constituent services, and a fair system that represents all residents. This vision is currently being threatened by a ballot committees funded by corporate interests. Bankrolled by David Smith, Question H would limit the political power of Baltimore City residents by shrinking the Baltimore City Council from 14 to 8 districts. Fewer City Council districts would make each district much bigger, meaning each Councilmember would represent more residents – and make it harder for Councilmembers to serve their district. Larger districts would also limit electoral and political power of Black and lower income residents, and make running for office harder and more expensive, giving power to wealthy donors. As a result, our Council would become less diverse and less representative.

That’s why labor unions, community organizations, faith groups, and more have come together to form the Baltimore City is Not For Sale campaign. Join us at an upcoming event, or reach out to JUFJ’s Baltimore team to learn how you can get involved in the fight against special interests and help build a Baltimore for the people.
